Digipak Draft Three Feedback

Today I held my final focus group to help improve my digipak. In this session, the main improvement I was given was to correct the lighting on the front cover as the spotlight I used to make the lighting looked too harsh. Other improvements included varying the kinds of light leaks I used on the images. I plan to improve on these areas in my fourth draft.

Reshoot Day Two

Today was the second day of refilming. This was to be the day where I filmed my extra scene at the pond and reshot some of the handheld shots around the park. To prepare for this day I made sure that my camera was fully charged. I also made sure that the footage on my SD card from the day before was stored somewhere safe so I had enough room for the new film. The props for today’s shoot were put in a bag the night before along with the tripod.

As I needed someone to help me with my equipment I asked my mum if she would come with me and my sister. Her agreement helped a lot as she could assist me with the tripod and getting to the different locations. We all got up at 7:00am as I needed my locations to look deserted. Although this was a struggle I’m glad we did it as my shots capture the isolation Emma feels.

The first scene we shot was the pond scene. This was added in as a way of making my video more diverse in its locations and adding in more symbolic shots. Filming outside in February proved to be quite challenging at times due to the cold weather which made it uncomfortable to stand around for so long. However, I managed to capture all the shots I needed. Hopefully, this new footage should add more to the motif of birds, memories and isolation.

We then went on to refilm the handheld shots of Emma walking. To ensure that I didn’t shake the camera as much I made my actor walk at a slower pace. This helped a lot as I wasn’t shaking the camera as much and my actor was able to remain in the centre of the screen.

Overall, I am very happy with the way today turned out as I managed to film everything I needed to in time.

Reshoot Day One

Today was the first day of my reshoot for my A2 media music video. To prepare for this day I charged my canon camera the night before so my battery would be fully charged and won’t run out halfway through filming. I also ensured that my SD card was cleared of all my other footage so that I wouldn’t run out of space. However, I made sure that the original footage was stored somewhere safe.

The morning of the reshoot was fairly early as I wanted to have a lot of time in case something went wrong. Sophie, my mum and I drove to my nana house as I was only reshooting the interior locations. Upon arrival, I set up immediately putting my tripod and camera in the correct spaces and ensuring we had all the equipment we need.

The first few shots I refilled were in the bedroom. From my improvements, I was told to vary the style of shots that I chose and to make the lighting brighter. Additionally, some of the interior shots were a little shaky meaning some scenes had to be re-filmed entirely.  To vary my shot types I included two new shots of Emma walking out of her room and down the stairs. Both of these were crab shots to vary the angles in my piece.

The next scene I had to re-film was the one with Emma reading her book. The reasoning for refilming this scene entirely was due to continuity. The setting behind my actress had changed since the last time I filmed there meaning that any added footage would look different. Additionally, the lighting on this day was very dull meaning the inside shots looked too dark. Today we had a very bright day which improved the indoor lighting dramatically. For this scene, I also added in an extra few shots. These were close-ups of Emma. This was an improvement suggested by my target audience as I needed more variety of angles in my video.

Overall, I believe that this refilming day was very successful as everything went very smoothly and I managed to film everything I needed to for that day.

Digipak Draft Three

This is the third draft of my digipak. I have added overlays to the two photos of the props as this makes them look like part of the whole product. I have also fixed the lighting in these photos as it was previously unprofessional. Personally, I think my digipak has improved from the last draft, however, I want to make sure that it is as good as it can possibly be. This means I will be holding another focus group for further improvements which I will apply in my fourth draft.
